It’s not here, it’s not there, but the ties somewhere in between. | 2020

This is a project called "It's neither here nor there but the line connecting in between." that spans Taiwan and France. With two artist at France, we began contemplating what possibilities could arise from the geographical and cultural distance between these two locations. In today's world, we often establish channels between distant places through transportation, mail, messages, and video call. This not only facilitates the exchange of information but also gives rise to new relationships between the two locations.

We attempt to construct a unique passage between these two places, exploring the effects that such a connection might generate. How does this passage respond to the familiar modes of connection prevalent in our present-day society? Through our respective works, we respond to the themes of "communication" and “passage." From here, I created two lamps and connected them via the internet. I sent one of them to France. When one lamp is turned off, the other one will immediately turn on, and vice versa. We continued to coexist with these desk lamps for a period.

In 2020, I received a task to invite artists and collaborate on a project together. It was a project involving three people, each of us providing responses to the theme, as well as many parts completed together.

There were many instructive images included, including Camila's artwork, posters on the wall for the audience and anyone, and construction manuals received from the other two artists. I had to help them with certain assembly tasks, such as setting up the exhibition. They also helped me assemble some parts of the artwork.

In this project, I created two lamps and connected them via the internet. I sent one of them to France. When one lamp is turned off, the other one will immediately turn on, and vice versa.

The desk lamp was sent to Yu-Wen's room in France and assembled there. Besides the final items placed in the exhibition, the communication during these months was also part of the project.
